"From Flower to Seed"
An exhibition of contemporary botanical illustration
Medieval Garden of Uzès (Gard, France)
From May 22 to June 29, 2025
The Association of Botanical Illustration Enthusiasts (AsPIB) presented an exhibition entitled “From Flower to Seed” in a setting that was truly idyllic for botanical illustration.
This beautiful exhibition took place at the Medieval Garden of Uzès from May 22 to June 29, 2025.
The story began a few months earlier, when AsPIB was invited to take part in the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Medieval Garden of Uzès.
Over the following months, a professional and cheerful partnership was established between AsPIB and the In Situ association, which manages this Historic Monument-listed garden, also recognized with the Remarkable Garden label.
AsPIB presented 40 artworks on the theme “From Flower to Seed.” Fourteen members responded to the call, contributing original pieces and fine art prints using a variety of techniques — especially watercolors on paper and vellum, graphite drawings, and ink work.

A botanical drawing workshop, led by Dominique Delattre and Marie Malissen, was held on the opening day in the exhibition room at the heart of the garden. It offered In Situ members a joyful opportunity to explore different drawing techniques.
For nearly two months, a diverse and highly international audience came to discover and admire these contemporary botanical illustrations. The guestbook tells the story, filled with signatures from visitors hailing from Germany, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Dubai, France, New Zealand, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Taiwan, and the United States. All expressed their admiration, surprise, or delight — which brought us great joy.
