Botanical Illustration: Where Art Meets Scientific Precision
AsPIB organizes botanical illustration courses and workshops throughout the year, led by experienced artists, in a supportive and focused atmosphere.
These sessions offer opportunities to learn or improve botanical drawing techniques (watercolor, graphite, ink…), sharpen your observation skills, and nurture your artistic sensitivity.

September 2025
"The Art of the Flower in Lyon" at Tomaselli Collection
Location: Tomaselli Collection, Lyon, France
Date: Friday, September 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM
Save the date for a guided tour of the exhibition “The Art of the Flower in Lyon” at Tomaselli Collection.
Meet at 2:00 PM, 22 rue Laure Diebold, 69009 Lyon, for a 1 hour 15-minute tour during public opening hours.
After the tour, enjoy exclusive access to the Robert Vernet Création archives (19th–20th centuries), featuring fabric samples and floral design sketches.
In the afternoon, members can freely explore the exhibition.
In the evening, a private workshop will be held for AsPIB members to draw and study the artworks at their own pace.

From Flower to Seed

As part of the exhibition “From Flower to Seed“, a botanical drawing and illustration workshop was offered by Dominique Delattre and Marie Malissen, giving the public a wonderful opportunity to discover this artistic practice.

Science Festival 2024: “Let’s Draw Some Botanical Wonders”
Location: Herbarium of Lyon, Lyon, France

In the prestigious setting of one of the largest herbaria in the world, AsPIB once again teamed up with the Herbarium of Lyon to offer an introduction to botanical drawing.
This session, led by Monique Desgouttes-Rouby and Dominique Delattre, was a great success: a full house and enthusiastic participants!
The goal? To learn how to observe, identify, and represent the essential features of a plant specimen. Using watercolor pencils, participants explored a fun and accessible approach while developing both their scientific eye and artistic skills.
A wonderful way to celebrate science… through drawing!

Science Festival 2023

A wonderful partnership between the Herbarium of Lyon and AsPIB!
As part of the Science Festival, held from October 6 to 16, 2023, AsPIB once again took part in events organized in the Lyon area.
The program included a demonstration-lecture followed by a botanical drawing workshop, enthusiastically led by several association members — Françoise Piquet-Vadon, Dominique Delattre, Monique Desgouttes-Rouby, and Constant Pilloix-Desgouttes.
The workshop was a full house — a great success that reflects the public’s strong interest in botanical illustration!
June 2023
Museum Night at the Allard Museum
Location: Allard Museum, Montbrison, France
Dates: May 13, 2023 and November 22, 2023
Martina Rajtmajerová led two workshops for families and adults and performed during the Museum Night at the Allard Museum.
Dominique Delattre also hosted a drawing workshop and gave a talk on the theme “Botanical Illustration: A Science, a Passion, a Pleasure.”
The workshops were fully booked. Due to their success, more sessions are planned for 2024.
